Halloween in Japan is a curious beast. It only started to become a “big deal” within the last ten years, and some traditions at the core of the celebration elsewhere didn’t transition well into Japanese culture. For example, trick-or-treating isn’t a thing here, mainly because most Japanese people would rather stab themselves in the face with a toothpick than acknowledge their neighbors. At least in the cities, anyway. You can live in the same building with people for years and hardly ever see them. If any accidental crossing of paths seems imminent (when two neighbors happen to return home at the same time, for example), one person will often hang back lest they be forced to betray their awareness that the other exists. No way is anyone going to go ringing strangers’ doorbells to ask for candy.
But one Halloween custom that Japan’s youth embraces wholeheartedly is the costumes. Japan, of course, has its own tradition of cosplay, so it’s easy to understand why that side of Halloween is so popular here. Costumes open up a world of fantastical possibilities. From sexy superheroes to sexy nurses to sexy vampires, you never know what you’ll see at one of the country’s many public Halloween costume events. But you don’t need to come to Japan to live out your sexy fantasies – you’ve got hentai just a click or two away. Most enemies can restrain you for H attacks, and when it’s game over, you’ll see the erotically-grim fate your heroines meet, which changes depending on how they were defeated. If you like girl-on-girl monster action with a BDSM vibe, then be sure to check this one out.
You may be familiar with 3D action shooters Seed of the Dead and its sequel, Seed of the Dead: Sweet Home, but did you know there is a manga accompanying the second game? After defeating a group of zombies, the game’s heroines aim to return home, but will they make it back safely? Spoiler alert: no, they get tentacle raped! Why are there tentacles in a game about zombies, you ask? I guess these things are more like your Left4Dead-style special zombies with weird mutations that have given them tentacle dicks and really high libidos. Could happen.
Getting us started for Treats this week, we have Rebuild! Sea-girl Aquarium – a game about getting it on with girls as you try to turn around the prospects of the local aquarium. Why set an eroge in an aquarium, you ask? No, this game was not commissioned by Margaret Howe Lovatt, and, as far as I know, no dolphins will be sexually assaulted through the course of play. No, this is all about getting nasty with, cucking (or being cucked by), and impregnating the aquarium’s staff. Gameplay blends mini-game, life sim and visual novel aspects, with a graphical style that reminds me of a sketchier-looking Clock Tower, which feels appropriate for Halloween. Highly recommended for fans of both NTR and marine life.
Robolife-Days with Aino is a robot sex romantic comedy. Feel free just to go ahead and buy it based on that alone. Oh, you want to know more? Well, Aino is an android who’s lost all her memories and is heavily damaged. In fact, when you find her, she doesn’t even have legs (which some might see as a convenient removal of a possible hindrance). It’s up to you to help her regain a normal android life of working shitty jobs so she can try to get her memories back while she helps you pass your exams (though there is also a CG version of this title so you can skip all that and just look at the pretty erotic pictures). Along the way, there will be opportunities for the pair of you to grow closer and discover what lies inside that glossy android exterior. Whatever’s in there, I’m just hoping it’s been properly smoothed out. I don’t want my dick ground up by a set of gears. Not again.
If you like whimsical isekai harem visual novels, you might already be familiar with the Fantasy Tavern Sextet, which has catered to that particular niche with three games released between 2020 and 2021. Live the isekai life as you are transported to a parallel world and find yourself helping Lupine, a girl who saves you on your arrival, to improve the fortunes of her failing tavern business. From there, the game revolves around the female characters whose lives pass in and around the tavern, who neatly tick many of the expected isekai boxes – catgirl, maid, witch, steely warrior girl… Okay, it may all be a bit predictable, but with so much uncertainty in the world right now, don’t we deserve a little predictable fun now and then?
